1200 calories is considered the minimum daily amount for a woman. If you exercise you will need to compensate for the additional calories burned.
Exercise needs to be aerobic to be effective, so as the last person said, work up to 30 minutes per session. Running,, swimming or cycling are good.
Best wishes, Lana

make sure you dont eat alot of bad carbs, aka white bread or white pasta or potatoes. stick to a nice healthy breakfast (ex: weight control oatmeal with a banana), have a little snack in between,(ex: apple or carrots with low fat veggie dip). for lunch you can-because im sure youre in school- a sandwich on whole wheat bread with turkey low fat cheese and little to no mayo. substitute mustard instead with a 100 calorie snack and a fruit of your choice. for when you get home from school you can have maybe celery with peanutbutter or a portioned size of pretzels etc. then for dinner you can have what youre parents make, just make sure its a portioned size(no bigger than youre fist for the main entree) and lots of veggies. and if you want you can have a no sugar ice pop for dessert or some low fat ice cream in a serving size.
try and exercise 3-5 times a week for 30 mins. you can start off power walking with your ipod, take classes at your local gym, go bike riding.
and dont make this feel like a punishment! dont starve yourself and eat enough, just healthy! this isnt a punishment, just a new healthy lifestyle! im sure youre beautiful as you are, but if this will boost your confidence than go for it! have fun and good luck!

my own 18yr old healthy lifestyle!
Each pound of fat reserves is 3,500 calories of exercising.
15 pounds would be 52,500 calories of exercising.
52,500 calories divided by 9 weeks is a weekly average of 5,833.33 calories of exercising or a daily average of 833.33 calories of exercising, then you must have rest days, so you need to do more like 1,166.66 calories of exercising a day for 5 days a week…at least 2 and a half hours a day of exercising, five times a week.
But even if you’re very motivated and set up your mind and have time to exercise for 2 and a half hour a day, you would never get enough energy to do so, since your body would need some extra calories to get enough energy to exercise and your body would not even get enough calories to cover your Basal Metabolic Rate which is around 1,450 calories, so forget about the energy needed to exercise for 2 and a half hour.
Women’s Basal Metabolic Rate:
655 + (4.35 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) – (4.7 x age in years)
655 + (4.35 x 135 pounds) + (4.7 x 62 inches) – (4.7 x 15 years old)
655 + 587 + 291 – 70 = 1,463 calories
Your body is a marvelous adaptable system. If you need 1,463 calories (before exercising) and you only eat 1,200…your body will adapt and lower your metabolism.
I would advise you to eat at least 1,500 calories a day and exercise for 3.500 calories for each pound of fat reserves that you want to lose and take your time (like half a pound to one pound a week). NOT 15 pounds in 9 weeks!
I would tell you to eat a few hundreds more calories, for your growth, so you don’t end up a short adult woman who stunted her growth with low calorie diets as a teenager.
I could tell you this or that but you’ll do whatever you want.
Send your metabolism down the drain, stunt your growth, end up a short and fat adult woman…why should I care if you don’t?
